About Ethimo

The Lazio house that built its catalog around the Mediterranean shoreline. Founded in 2009 in Cisterna di Latina, Ethimo works in marine-grade aluminum, FSC-certified plantation teak and hand-bound polyester cord, the latter developed with Patrick Norguet for the Knit programme, which was the brand's first international break and remains its signature object. The roster has since expanded to include Luca Nichetto, Paola Navone, Christophe Pillet and the in-house Studio Tecnico, with a catalog that reads as a Tuscan terrace from above and as a Sardinian veranda from below: rope-woven lounges, ceramic-topped dining tables, hanging swing chairs and rattan-inflected high-backs. Production remains entirely in Lazio. Compare with our Talenti, Fischer Möbel and Weishäupl catalogs for adjacent specs.

Inside the workshop

Lazio, Italy, Mediterranean handcraft

Ethimo weaves all cord by hand on welded aluminum and joined-teak frames inside the original Cisterna di Latina workshop.

Ethimo workshop, Cisterna di Latina, Lazio
Cord, teak and the Tuscan palette

The signature Ethimo move is to take a programme typed as "shoreline lounge" and translate it through Italian industrial craft. The Knit cord, a hand-bound polyester rope developed with Patrick Norguet, is wound on welded aluminum ribs over a one-shift production run, with the weave inspected at three checkpoints before despatch. FSC-certified plantation teak is air-dried in Lazio for six months before joinery; the standard finish leaves the teak natural to silver under the Mediterranean sun, but the workshop also runs a Tuscan terracotta-painted palette of six oxidised pigments for the Esedra and Allaperto programmes. Cushions ship in Sunbrella outdoor textile from a stocked palette of forty-two colors.
