About the collection
Rotin is a lounge collection where shape, colour and substance come together to tell the story of a new way of thinking and en-joying places for relaxing in company in the open air. Comprising sofa, lounge armchair, coffee table and pouf with structure in pickled teak, Rotin is inspired by Asian tradition, which sees bamboo as the main element for outdoor furnishings together with techniques normally used in the production of rattan furniture.
As well as form and substance, Rotin is also colour and the decorative value of this collection is emphasised by fabrics in intense hues and surfaces in decisive brights. The tops of the occasional tables in particular feature es-pecially creative use of colour, with their unique patterns and extraordinary manual craftsmanship. They are, in fact, made entirely by hand, in enamelled lava stone, waste quarry marble, or cement, and they bring alive wonderful compositions inspired by the Palladian technique. The original combination of these “details” in stone stems from the use of three types of marble: Green Guatemala, Cipollino, and Bardiglio, with cement grouting running between them to create elegant geometric designs on the surface.

In 2013, after having completed their degrees at the IUAV University in Venice and the Ecal de Lausanne, Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto founded the Zanellato/Bortotto studio, based in Treviso. In the same year, they presented their first project at the Salone Satellite in Milan. The collection, going by the name of “Acqua Alta", pays homage to Venice. This moment marked the beginning of their longstanding, constant research into the relationship between places and the passing of time, a connection analysed through the reinterpretation of traditional artisanal techniques.

Rotin sits within the catalog of Ethimo, the Italian outdoor furniture house, and is designed by Zanellato/Bortotto. Ethimo produces in Italy across specialty outdoor materials — teak, powder-coated aluminum, rope, ceramic, stone and outdoor fabrics — selected per collection, with established US trade representation.
For US trade specifiers, Rotin carries the same material data sheets and US-trade documentation as the rest of the Ethimo catalog: ASTM F1858 outdoor furniture compliance where applicable, fire-code classification on cushion components, and chain-of-shipment documentation supplied with the invoice. Net pricing for Rotin is quoted at US trade volumes, before fabric grade, finish premium, and consolidated freight. Lead time is 8-14 weeks from the Italian factory to US port for standard configurations; bespoke dimensions, COM upholstery, or large hospitality volumes extend by 4-8 weeks. The collection is specified in US hospitality outdoor (boutique hotel terraces, resort pool decks, restaurant outdoor dining) and in premium residential outdoor (terrace, courtyard, poolside) installations.
