About the collection

Rafael

Rafael is a collection with an unusual appearance and strong character, influenced by the versatility and transience of nature. The sturdy structure in brushed teak, with metal staples that add a touch of craftsmanship, meets the textures and shades of the cushions, in a compositional dialogue in which the tables in white marble or stone glazed in the color of the sea are inserted. Fine artisan crafting of teak, marble and lava stone in fact combines with the sophisticated range of textile colours, again designed by Paola Navone, that enhance the padded furniture.

All the elements can be used together or stand-alone. The alternating slats that make up the backrests bring alive the unusual original hexagonal profiles of the frame, in the new distressed natural teak finish.

A dimensional rhythm that lends movement and visual aperture, lending these furnishings dynamism and ‘air’.

Straightforward, a dreamer and eclectic: her mind and soul are a combination of flavours and colours of the South of the world - known, loved and lived - together with the taste and forms of the West, rich in traditions, open and continuously in movement. All of this produces her untiring curiosity in her research for matters and materials, forms and structures. In her research for the present, the past and the future.

About the Rafael collection by Ethimo

Rafael sits within the catalog of Ethimo, the Italian outdoor furniture house, and is designed by Paola Navone. Ethimo produces in Italy across specialty outdoor materials — teak, powder-coated aluminum, rope, ceramic, stone and outdoor fabrics — selected per collection, with established US trade representation.

Material and construction notes

For US trade specifiers, Rafael carries the same material data sheets and US-trade documentation as the rest of the Ethimo catalog: ASTM F1858 outdoor furniture compliance where applicable, fire-code classification on cushion components, and chain-of-shipment documentation supplied with the invoice. Bespoke fabric or finish substitutions are accepted on COM workflow with confirmed yardage at quote stage; see the Sunbrella and Outdura specifier reference for the workflow at the European factory.

Specifying Rafael in US trade projects

Net pricing for Rafael is quoted at US trade volumes, before fabric grade, finish premium, and consolidated freight. Lead time is 8-14 weeks from the Italian factory to US port for standard configurations; bespoke dimensions, COM upholstery, or large hospitality volumes extend by 4-8 weeks. The collection is specified in US hospitality outdoor (boutique hotel terraces, resort pool decks, restaurant outdoor dining) and in premium residential outdoor (terrace, courtyard, poolside) installations.

Most Ethimo collections, including Rafael, accept COM upholstery and bespoke dimensions within manufacturer tolerance. See the FF&E procurement workflow for the full COM and bespoke sequence, including fabric yardage, factory shipping, and lead-time impact.

Care, warranty, and US service life

Ethimo outdoor pieces share a common care pattern: quarterly rinse with clean water and mild soap, twice-yearly inspection of cushions and fittings, and off-season storage of soft goods in freeze-thaw climates. Structural elements (aluminum, FSC teak, steel, stone) typically carry 5-10 year warranties; fabrics and cushions 2-3 years against UV and stitching. US service life on Ethimo outdoor is typically 15-25 years on structural elements and 5-10 years on cushions, with COM refresh extending the cycle.
