About the collection
The Calipso collection, elegant and minimal, is the result of thorough compositional and stylistic research, seeking not just a new modularity and expressiveness for furniture, but also a new dimension of wellbeing capable of creating ‘made-to-measure’ refined settings.
Calipso is offered in three different modules (120x120 cm, 180x120 cm, and 240x120 cm), each of which consists of a base made with natural teak slats, in varying sizes. The aluminium frame is particularly discreet, so much so that the lounge seats appear to be ‘floating’. The soft cushions are available in three sizes (100x100 cm, 170x100 cm, and 200x100 cm) and are ‘free’ of the base they rest on, which is larger than the cushions themselves in order to allow the utmost freedom in positioning each element, according to need. Calipso offers a new way to enjoy outdoor living with quality, flexibility, style and comfort, effortlessly meeting the needs of residential spaces as well as the more sophisticated requirements of contract and hotel settings.
Ilaria Marelli, architect and designer, specialized in art direction, product, exhibition and interior design, developing an emotional and experimental approach. Interested in the social and cultural aspect of design, Ilaria Marelli teaches “Innovation design” at Milan Politecnico University, and she promotes ideas on social innovation, such as the first Italian co-housing project. Winner of the “Milano Donna 2008” award and “AlumniPolimi Award 2015” in Architecture.

Calipso sits within the catalog of Ethimo, the Italian outdoor furniture house, and is designed by Ilaria Marelli. Ethimo produces in Italy across specialty outdoor materials — teak, powder-coated aluminum, rope, ceramic, stone and outdoor fabrics — selected per collection, with established US trade representation.
For US trade specifiers, Calipso carries the same material data sheets and US-trade documentation as the rest of the Ethimo catalog: ASTM F1858 outdoor furniture compliance where applicable, fire-code classification on cushion components, and chain-of-shipment documentation supplied with the invoice. Lead time is 8-14 weeks from the Italian factory to US port for standard configurations; bespoke dimensions, COM upholstery, or large hospitality volumes extend by 4-8 weeks. The collection is specified in US hospitality outdoor (boutique hotel terraces, resort pool decks, restaurant outdoor dining) and in premium residential outdoor (terrace, courtyard, poolside) installations.
