Dedon · Triaxial-weave DEDON Fiber on aluminum
Sebastian Herkner's second collection for Dedon is built on a single weaving idea: a semi-transparent triaxial weave that interlaces three colors of DEDON Fiber at sixty-degree angles, producing an open, almost lattice-like surface rather than a solid sheet. The frame is a slender powder-coated aluminum armature; the seat is deep, the backrest expansive, the proportions taken from traditional indoor alcoves. Six modular pieces, three-seater, three-seater with high back, left and right modules, left and right daybeds, drop into corner, end and center positions for hospitality terraces and residential lounges alike.
The Mbarq. outdoor sits within 's permanent outdoor catalog, a position has held as a European specialty outdoor house with established US trade representation. Mbarq. is produced in specialty European outdoor materials matched to the brand's catalog tradition as part of 's premium European outdoor programme, with the configuration designed by 's in-house design team.
's outdoor pieces are built around specialty European outdoor materials matched to the brand's catalog tradition. For US trade specifiers, this means Mbarq. carries the same material data sheets and US-trade documentation as the rest of the catalog: ASTM F1858 outdoor furniture compliance where applicable, fire-code classification on cushion components, and chain-of-shipment documentation supplied with the invoice. Bespoke fabric or finish substitutions are accepted on COM workflow with confirmed yardage at quote stage; see the Sunbrella and Outdura specifier reference for the workflow at the European factory.
Pricing for Mbarq. at US trade typically falls between on quote at US trade volumes, before fabric grade, finish premium, and consolidated freight. Lead time is 8-14 weeks from European factory to US port for standard configurations; bespoke dimensions, COM upholstery, or large hospitality volumes extend by 4-8 weeks. The collection is specified in US hospitality outdoor (boutique hotel terraces, resort pool decks, restaurant outdoor dining) and in premium residential outdoor (lake-house, pool-house, rooftop terrace) installations.
Standard Mbarq. configurations ship 8-14 weeks from European factory to US port. Bespoke dimensions or COM upholstery add 4-8 weeks. Hospitality projects above 50 pieces consolidate on a single container and follow the same standard timeline.
Yes. runs a verified US trade programme. Net trade pricing for Mbarq. is shared after qualification (designer of record, project scope) and is set under the non-disclosure agreement applicable to all premium European outdoor specifiers.
Most collections, including Mbarq., accept COM upholstery and bespoke dimensions within manufacturer tolerance. See the FF&E procurement workflow for the full COM and bespoke sequence, including fabric yardage, factory shipping, and lead-time impact.
Premium European outdoor pieces share a common care pattern: quarterly rinse with clean water and mild soap, twice-yearly inspection of cushions and fittings, and off-season storage of soft goods in freeze-thaw climates. Structural elements (aluminum, FSC teak, steel) typically carry 5-10 year warranties; fabrics and cushions 2-3 years against UV and stitching. US service life on European premium outdoor is typically 15-25 years on structural elements and 5-10 years on cushions, with COM refresh extending the cycle. Documentation and warranty registration are supplied with the invoice at the trade tier.

Specifications
Aftercare
A five-step protocol drawn from DEDON's care manual, adapted for American climate ranges.
Soft hose stream is sufficient. The semi-transparent weave is open by design and drains naturally; monthly rinsing keeps pollen and dust from settling between the three fiber layers.
Lukewarm water with a pH-neutral soap and a soft cellulose sponge handle wine, sunscreen and food spills. Avoid pressure-washing, which can deform the triaxial geometry.
The three fiber colorways are deliberately not blended, the surface reads differently from different angles. Rotate modules quarterly so UV exposure ages evenly across the color mix.
The deep cushion set uses Sunbrella outdoor fabric over quick-dry foam. Cushion covers are removable and machine-washable cold; store flat in a dry location during winter months.
The aluminum armature is concealed beneath the weave and rarely needs attention. After five years of outdoor exposure, a frame service is offered through DEDON's authorised network; the Boston office coordinates returns.
Mbarq · FAQ
Three sets of fiber strands interlace at sixty-degree angles rather than the usual two at ninety. The result is a hexagonal cell structure that reads as semi-transparent and is mechanically stiffer per gramme of fiber than orthogonal weaves. Mbarq is the first Dedon collection to use it at scale.
Yes. The Pepper, Baltic and Chestnut standard colorways are pre-mixed, but bespoke three-fiber combinations are available with a 6-piece minimum and 14–18 week added lead-time.
Yes. The powder-coated aluminum frame is marine-grade; DEDON Fiber is naturally chloride-tolerant. See the Dedon archive →
Yes. 2-meter sample required, outdoor double-rub rating ≥40,000, 4-week added lead-time.
