Dedon · 2014 · Sebastian Herkner
A wing-backed lounge chair the way Caribbean hotels would have made one in 1958, had they had access to powder-coated aluminum and a UV-stable fiber. Sebastian Herkner's 2014 portrait of long, easy afternoons remains Dedon's most quoted silhouette.
Materials & Finishes
Six fiber weaves and four frame finishes are factory-standard; bespoke combinations are available on hospitality contracts.
Technical Drawings
Elevations and plans reproduced from Dedon's published spec sheets, the same factory documentation we hold on file for every brand in the register, so any piece can be laid out to scale before it is specified.
Full-resolution CAD blocks and PDF spec sheets are sent with every project dossier.
Specifications
Aftercare
A five-step protocol from Dedon's care manual, adapted for American climate ranges.
A soft hose stream is sufficient. The fiber is salt-resistant but film accumulation dulls the surface; weekly rinsing keeps the original sheen.
A drop of pH-neutral detergent in lukewarm water on a soft cloth removes most stains. Never use bleach, solvents, or pressure washers.
Dedon protective covers (sold separately) are recommended for any closure of more than four weeks, particularly in coastal or alpine settings.
Cushion covers are removable and machine-washable on cold; the inner foam is open-cell and self-draining but benefits from indoor storage during freeze-thaw seasons.
Powder-coated aluminum does not corrode but bolts can loosen with thermal expansion. A standard hex-key kit (supplied) handles tightening.
Mbrace · FAQ
Standard fiber/finish combinations: 8–14 weeks from deposit. Bespoke combinations: 14–22 weeks. Hospitality projects above 30 pieces have dedicated production windows.
Yes. The frame is marine-grade powder-coated aluminum and the Dedon Fiber weave is chloride and salt-tested. Annual fastener inspection is recommended in oceanfront installations.
Mbrace (2014) is the original woven version. Mbrace Alu (2018) substitutes a perforated cast-aluminum shell for the woven fiber, the same silhouette in a different material. See the Dedon archive →
Yes. Dedon accepts COM with a 2-meter sample and 4-week added lead-time. Fabrics must meet outdoor durability rating (≥40,000 Wyzenbeek double rubs).
No. Mbrace is a wing-back form and not designed to stack. Cane-line and Houe offer stackable lounge alternatives.
