About B&B Italia
The Italian house from Brianza that turned post-war engineering into living-room sculpture. Founded in 1966 by Piero Ambrogio Busnelli, B&B Italia industrialised cold-formed polyurethane upholstery and re-defined what a modern sofa could be, opening a six-decade run of collaborations with the architects who would re-shape European domestic design: Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola, Naoto Fukasawa, Vincent Van Duysen, Piero Lissoni, Mario Bellini, Jean-Marie Massaud, Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby. The outdoor archive is the studio's newest chapter, an extension of the same vocabulary, the same upholstery technology and the same designer roster moved outside under the engineering supervision of the in-house Centro Ricerche & Sviluppo. Frames are powder-coated aluminum, cushions are quick-dry Sunbrella, every piece carries the same eight-year structural warranty as the indoor catalog.

From the workshop
B&B Italia's headquarters and main production site sit in Novedrate, the same Brianza commune the house was founded in. The site combines the Centro Ricerche & Sviluppo, a research unit established in 1973 in collaboration with industrial engineers and material scientists, with the production lines for both the indoor and the outdoor catalogs. The Borea programme is engineered, prototyped and quality-tested entirely on-site before each catalog release.
