Barlow Tyrie · Marble Rust ceramic on teak pedestal

Zen

Zen is Barlow Tyrie's quietest dining programme: a single Marble Rust Italian ceramic top, fused at 1200°C for full UV and chloride immunity, supported on either curved or straight solid-teak pedestal legs. The ceramic surface is heat-, scratch- and weather-resistant without any surface treatment, so the table can be specified outdoors year-round in any zone. The range is deliberately focused: 3-meter and 4-meter dining tables for long terraces, plus a 120cm coffee table and a 40cm side table for the lounge group.

About the Zen. collection by

The Zen. outdoor sits within 's permanent outdoor catalog, a position has held as a European specialty outdoor house with established US trade representation. Zen. is produced in specialty European outdoor materials matched to the brand's catalog tradition as part of 's premium European outdoor programme, with the configuration designed by 's in-house design team.

Material and construction notes

's outdoor pieces are built around specialty European outdoor materials matched to the brand's catalog tradition. For US trade specifiers, this means Zen. carries the same material data sheets and US-trade documentation as the rest of the catalog: ASTM F1858 outdoor furniture compliance where applicable, fire-code classification on cushion components, and chain-of-shipment documentation supplied with the invoice. Bespoke fabric or finish substitutions are accepted on COM workflow with confirmed yardage at quote stage; see the Sunbrella and Outdura specifier reference for the workflow at the European factory.

Specifying Zen. in US trade projects

Pricing for Zen. at US trade typically falls between on quote at US trade volumes, before fabric grade, finish premium, and consolidated freight. Lead time is 8-14 weeks from European factory to US port for standard configurations; bespoke dimensions, COM upholstery, or large hospitality volumes extend by 4-8 weeks. The collection is specified in US hospitality outdoor (boutique hotel terraces, resort pool decks, restaurant outdoor dining) and in premium residential outdoor (lake-house, pool-house, rooftop terrace) installations.

Frequently asked specifier questions

What is the lead time for Zen.?

Standard Zen. configurations ship 8-14 weeks from European factory to US port. Bespoke dimensions or COM upholstery add 4-8 weeks. Hospitality projects above 50 pieces consolidate on a single container and follow the same standard timeline.

Is the Zen. collection covered by trade pricing?

Yes. runs a verified US trade programme. Net trade pricing for Zen. is shared after qualification (designer of record, project scope) and is set under the non-disclosure agreement applicable to all premium European outdoor specifiers.

Can Zen. be specified with COM fabric or bespoke dimensions?

Most collections, including Zen., accept COM upholstery and bespoke dimensions within manufacturer tolerance. See the FF&E procurement workflow for the full COM and bespoke sequence, including fabric yardage, factory shipping, and lead-time impact.

Care, warranty, and US service life

Premium European outdoor pieces share a common care pattern: quarterly rinse with clean water and mild soap, twice-yearly inspection of cushions and fittings, and off-season storage of soft goods in freeze-thaw climates. Structural elements (aluminum, FSC teak, steel) typically carry 5-10 year warranties; fabrics and cushions 2-3 years against UV and stitching. US service life on European premium outdoor is typically 15-25 years on structural elements and 5-10 years on cushions, with COM refresh extending the cycle. Documentation and warranty registration are supplied with the invoice at the trade tier.

Aftercare

How to care for Zen.

A five-step protocol from Barlow Tyrie's care manual, adapted for American climate ranges.

  1. Wipe ceramic with a damp cloth

Marble Rust ceramic is fully vitrified at 1200°C; spills do not penetrate. A soft damp cloth handles wine, oil, sunscreen and food without any specialty cleaner.

  2. Oil the teak pedestal annually

Solid teak pedestals silver naturally outdoors. To hold the honey tone, apply Barlow Tyrie Teak Care Set once at install and every spring. The ceramic top itself never requires sealing.

  3. Inspect underside fixings each season

Ceramic tops are secured to teak pedestals with concealed stainless steel hardware. A quick visual check at the start of each season catches any thermal-cycling loosening; the supplied hex-key kit handles re-tightening.

  4. Avoid sharp impact on edges

Vitrified ceramic is extremely scratch-resistant on the face but can chip at corner impacts. The 4m table ships with corner protectors and is best installed in a fixed location.

  5. Cover during prolonged storage

Breathable storage covers are recommended for off-season storage; the ceramic itself is fully weatherproof but the teak pedestal benefits from coverage in zones 7 and colder.

Zen · FAQ

Specifying Zen.

What is Marble Rust ceramic?

An Italian-manufactured porcelain stoneware fully vitrified at 1200°C with a rust-pigmented marble veining. The result is a non-porous surface, no sealing, no surface treatment, with full UV, scratch and chloride resistance.

Is the 4m table shippable to the United States?

Yes. The 4m top ships on a custom palette via dedicated freight; lead-time to East Coast distribution is 14–18 weeks; West Coast 16–20 weeks. Hospitality projects above 4 tables are scheduled into dedicated runs.

Can the ceramic be specified in alternative colors?

Marble Rust is the standard finish. Marble Light and Marble Dark are bespoke with 16-week lead-time. Anthracite (uniform color, no veining) is also available bespoke. See the Barlow Tyrie archive →

How does Zen compare to Equinox?

Equinox uses a 316 stainless steel frame with teak or ceramic top, scaled for full hospitality dining sets. Zen is teak-only on the base and focuses on the large-format dining table where the ceramic surface becomes the defining gesture.

Lead-time to the United States?

3m table: 10–14 weeks. 4m table: 14–18 weeks. Coffee and side tables: 8–10 weeks.
