In conceiving LOUNGE, Ligthart was inspired by the challenge to create the world’s first truly modular outdoor system. Influenced by minimalist precepts, the designer opted for rigorous simplicity. One of DEDON’s earliest collections, LOUNGE is as simple, striking and versatile today as ever.Though it has expanded over time, it remains true to its original premise, less is more. LOUNGE is generously proportioned yet relatively compact. Clean, consistent lines accentuate the basic modular concept.
LOUNGE by Frank Ligthart raises simplicity to an art. The collection’s clean, balanced, rectilinear modules come together in an endless variety of seating arrangements, enabling users to create the perfect outdoor lounge for any environment. Depending one’s viewing angle, new DEDON Fiber Taupe Duet, exclusively for LOUNGE, appears to shift in color from light beige to dark grey.

Lounge sits within the catalog of DEDON, the German luxury outdoor furniture house founded in 1990, and is designed by Frank Ligthart. DEDON pioneered the synthetic weaving fiber that defines the category; its pieces are hand-woven at the company's own facility in Cebu, the Philippines, on frames of powder-coated aluminium and, in several ranges, teak, with established US trade representation.
For US trade specifiers, Lounge carries the same material data as the rest of the DEDON catalog: weather-resistant DEDON Fiber (UV- and chlorine-stable), marine-grade aluminium hardware, and ASTM F1858 outdoor-furniture compliance where applicable. Fire-code classification applies to cushion components; chain-of-shipment documentation is supplied with the invoice.
