About the collection
Characterized by its ribbed, asymmetrical, seemingly collapsing forms, BABYLON is the result of years of development and no shortage of imagination or perseverance. The LED element of the robust luminaire made of rotomolded polyethylene can be dimmed in eight steps via a convenient remote control. As a decorative element for outdoor and indoor use, it has a warm white correlated color temperature (2700 Kelvin).
In developing BABYLON’s striking form, Harry-Paul cites inspirations as diverse as the 16th-Century Dutch painting Tower of Babel, by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, and a pair of soft suede boots the designer owned in the 1980s. Striving to give the individual pieces in the collection the appearance of hand-crafted one-offs, he dove deep into complex algorithms and advanced rotomolding techniques.
BABYLON by Harry-Paul brings artful asymmetry and uncompromising modernity to the outdoor living room. A perfect complement to any DEDON dining or lounge setting, this iconic collection consists of much more than mere accessories. The sculptural luminaire is made of translucent, rotomolded polyethylene and is a real eye-catcher.
It has an ingress protection marking for LED Module by IP64, which means it is dustproof, splash proof and therefore fully suitable for outdoor use. The material is 100% recyclable, very lightweight and yet robust.

In situ

Babylon sits within the catalog of DEDON, the German luxury outdoor furniture house founded in 1990, and is designed by Harry & Camila. DEDON pioneered the synthetic weaving fiber that defines the category; its pieces are hand-woven at the company's own facility in Cebu, the Philippines, on frames of powder-coated aluminium and, in several ranges, teak, with established US trade representation.
For US trade specifiers, Babylon carries the same material data as the rest of the DEDON catalog: weather-resistant DEDON Fiber (UV- and chlorine-stable), marine-grade aluminium hardware, and ASTM F1858 outdoor-furniture compliance where applicable. Fire-code classification applies to cushion components; chain-of-shipment documentation is supplied with the invoice. Bespoke fabric substitutions are accepted on COM workflow with confirmed yardage at quote stage; see the Sunbrella and Outdura specifier reference for the workflow.
Net pricing for Babylon is quoted at US trade volumes, before fiber colour, frame finish, fabric grade and consolidated freight. Lead time is typically 10-16 weeks from the Philippines weaving facility to US port for standard configurations; bespoke dimensions, COM upholstery or large hospitality volumes extend by 4-8 weeks. The collection is specified in US hospitality outdoor (resort pool decks, boutique hotel terraces, restaurant outdoor dining) and in premium residential outdoor (terrace, courtyard, poolside) installations.
Babylon is designed by Harry & Camila, produced by DEDON. Full material specifications, dimensions and finish options are supplied on request with the trade quote.
Yes. DEDON runs a verified US trade programme. Net trade pricing for Babylon is shared after qualification (designer of record, project scope) under the DEDON trade terms for premium outdoor specifiers.
DEDON Fiber is the brand's proprietary all-weather woven fiber, engineered for UV, frost and salt-spray exposure. Babylon is cleaned with mild soap and water; cushions and COM upholstery follow the fabric maker's care schedule. See the FF&E procurement workflow for the full COM and bespoke sequence.
DEDON outdoor pieces share a common care pattern: quarterly rinse with clean water and mild soap, twice-yearly inspection of cushions and fittings, and off-season storage of soft goods in freeze-thaw climates. Frames (aluminium, teak) typically carry multi-year structural warranties; fibers and fabrics carry shorter terms against UV and stitching, supplied in writing with the quote. US service life on DEDON woven fiber is long when maintained, with COM refresh extending the cushion cycle.
